American Eskimo Dog
Affectionately known as "Eskies", the American Eskimo Dog is extremely intelligent. In fact, they are so smart they are considered one of the most intelligent breeds in the world. They are independent thinkers which might make training a tad difficult for inexperienced owners, so early training and socialization are highly recommended. Despite their name, the Eskie was not created by Eskimos, but rather by German settlers in the American Midwest. Bred as an all-purpose farm dog, the Eskie served as a watchdog, guardian dog, herder, and loyal companion. With a true knack for problem-solving, the Eskie loves learning new tricks and playing games that challenge their intelligence.
