Tibetan Terrier
While they originated in Tibet, the Tibetan Terrier isn't a Terrier at all but rather a companion breed. Known for their gentle dispositions, these medium-sized pups were believed to be introduced to Buddhist Monasteries high up in the Himalayan Mountains some 2,000 years ago. They were kept as companions and watchdogs, and while they aren't exactly cut out for guard dog duty they can be quite vocal at times, especially if they sense a threat nearby. Called the "Tsang Apso" in their homeland, the name is a reference to their shaggy coats which allowed them to work in the frigid mountain climates of their homeland.
