Mountain Cur
The Mountain Cur, also known as the "Pioneer's Dog" is a multipurpose working dog originating in the United States. While their exact origins are unknown, we do know that the Mountain Cur played an integral role in working the farms, homesteads, and ranches of early settlers. From guarding livestock and acting as vigilant watchdogs to chasing away vermin and hunting all manner of game, the Mountain Cur has proved itself to be a true working dog and loyal companion. Since they were bred for the sole purpose of working, looks weren't exactly a concern which resulted in highly flexible breed appearance standards. The Mountain Cur's short, smooth coat can be found in a wide range of colours with a variety of markings including black, white, and blue brindle, tan with white markings, as well as solid brown, yellow, or red with a white chest.
