Basset Artésien Normand

The Basset Artesian Normand (BAN), also known as the Artesian Norman Basset, was initially bred as a scent hound and used to hunt wild game such as foxes and rabbits. A close relative of the Basset Hound and the Basset Bleu de Gascogne, these short, floppy-eared dogs are known as world-renowned trackers and excellent family dogs. While they are often confused with Basset Hounds, there are several distinctions between the two breeds: the BAN is lighter in weight and has longer legs than the Basset Hound slightly. With a rather low-set and elongated frame, the BAN's body is two times as long as it is high!
