Basset Fauve De Bretagne
Originating in France during the 1800s, the Basset Fauve de Bretagne was originally bred to hunt small game such as rabbits. Derived from larger French hounds to produce a robust, agile hunter that was truly adept at navigating the treacherous terrain in pursuit of prey. Their dense, wiry coats helped to protect them from the elements and rough underbrush while their short legs and low-set stature aided in accessing tight spaces like dens and burrows. But despite their hunting roots, Basset Fauve de Bretagne sport a pair of dark, soulful puppy dog eyes that are well-matched to their affectionate, companionable personality.
