Basenji
Hailing from Africa, the Basenji was used to chase small game into hunter's nets as well as control the rodent population in villages. A true sight hound, the Basenji will run after just about anything that moves, especially cars. Their high prey drive may cause them to chase small animals and should be taken into consideration if there are other pets in the home. They are highly affectionate but also quite independent and usually prefer to give affection on their own terms.Independent and curious, the Basenji moves through the world with quiet confidence and a touch of mischief. They think before they act, often choosing observation over obedience and charm over volume. While they may not wear their heart on their sleeve, their affection runs deep once trust is earned.
