Afghan Hound

The Afghan Hound is considered one of the oldest breeds, dating all the way back to the pre-Christian era. They hail from Afghanistan where they were used to hunt large prey in the deserts and mountains. They are well known for their impeccable speed and endurance and are capable of covering vast distances quite quickly. An elegant and dignified breed with an ancient history, they are very sweet, loyal, affectionate, and sensitive, but can be somewhat aloof at times. They have a low dominance level and normally get along well with other dogs and pets in the home.
