Akbash
The Akbash is an incredibly old breed whose ancestry can be traced back thousands of years to Turkey. While their true bloodlines are unknown, these rather large dogs are thought to include some mix of mastiff and various sighthound breeds and were originally used to protect livestock from predators like wolves. Built as true guardian dogs, their long legs allow them to run both swiftly and stealthily, and the excess fur and skin around their neck help protect them from attacks.
