Saluki

Believed to be upwards of 7,000 years old, the Saluki is an ancient breed that was once known as the Royal Dog of Egypt. In fact, images of the Saluki can be found on Egyptian tombs and other artifacts. These medium-sized sighthounds are natural athletes and talented hunters, moving with a confident, agile gait. While they were once the hunting hounds of kings, the Saluki makes a wonderful family pet or companion for active owners who can cater to their need for plenty of exercise, time, and attention. Their long coats can be either silky or feathery in texture, and while they shed less than other breeds they are not considered hypoallergenic.
