Alaskan Malamute
The Alaskan Malamute was originally bred for use as a utilitarian dog, and then later as a sled dog. An independent, resourceful breed by nature, they are known to be both intelligent and loyal. A friendly dog overall, Alaskan Malamutes think of everyone as their friend. This trait makes them particularly sought-after as family dogs but makes them unreliable watchdogs. Though their large size may intimidate an intruder, that's just about the only protection they'll offer. The Alaskan Malamute is all power and presence, wrapped in thick fur and a stubborn streak. But beneath their strength is a joyful, often silly spirit that lights up when they?re with their people.
