Black Russian Terrier

Aptly named for its Russian origins, the Black Russian Terrier is a large working breed with a long, dense, curly double coat that allowed it to work outdoors in the harshest of conditions. Initially bred to work as police, military, and prison guard dogs during the 1930s, the breed was specifically created in the Red Star Kennel belonging to the Soviet Government.
