Löwchen

Originally bred as a companion dog during the 16th century, the Löwchen was popular among royalty and nobility in Germany, Belgium, Spain, and France. While their exact origins are unknown, it's believed they may be related to the Poodle or Bichon Frise. Regardless of its roots, the breed is an old one and is depicted in paintings as far back as the 1500s. One of the rarest breeds, the Löwchen is affectionately known as the "Little Lion" due to its mane-like fur and unwavering loyalty to its family.
