Caucasian Shepherd Dog

Originally bred as livestock guardians, the Caucasian Shepherd is a rather large breed known for its protective nature, bravery, and loyalty. Their large, muscular stature allowed them to protect livestock from bears, wolves, and all other manner of predators. Built to withstand the harsh, frigid weather of the Caucasus Mountains in Europe and Asia, the Caucasian Shepherd has a thick, weather-resistant coat that extends through the ears and tail, as well as thick fur between the pads of its giant paws. Their sturdy frame, large paws, and rather wide nostrils are all traits the breed developed and maintained to thrive in cold climates.
