American Water Spaniel

Bred as a multi-purpose hunting dog that could withstand the harsh, frigid waters of the Great Lakes, the American Water Spaniel is the descendent of the Irish Water Spaniel, curly-coated retriever, and the now-extinct English Water Spaniel. A skill that sets them apart from other water spaniels is their ability to retrieve from boats. These talented pups have specialized double-layered water-resistant coats and webbed feet, giving them quite the advantage when it comes to hunting and retrieving in the water. But don't let their name fool you; Water Spaniels are incredibly talented hunters on land, too!
