While the Poodle is often associated with France, its lineage can actually be traced back to 17th-century Germany, where it was developed from various coarse-coated water-retrieving breeds. Poodles come in three sizes?Standard, Miniature, and Toy?but share many of the same characteristics regardless of size. Originally bred as working water retrievers, Poodles were quickly recognized for their elegance, intelligence, and showmanship and became especially popular among French aristocracy thanks to their sophistication, trainability, and distinctive appearance.
