White Swiss Shepherd Dog

The White Swiss Shepherd Dog is a close relative of the German Shepherd and is often mistaken for its other family member, the White Shepherd. While there are many similarities between the breeds and they share similar ancestry, the White Swiss Shepherd Dog is its own distinct breed and was officially recognized as such in 1991. Like other herding breeds in Europe, they were primarily used as livestock guardians and sheep herders however they typically possess a more laid-back demeanour than their shepherd relatives. White Swiss Shepherds, also known as Berger Blanc Suisse, are quite popular among law enforcement, security, scent detection, and search & rescue due to their intelligence, impeccable sense of smell, and trainability.
