Toy Manchester Terrier

The Manchester Terrier is a sleek, agile breed graced with both speed and endurance and can be found in two varieties, toy and small. The difference in size initially occurred by chance but smaller dogs were then selectively bred to purposefully create a toy version of the breed. Originally used to hunt rabbits and exterminate vermin and other pests in the country's industrial areas, the Manchester Terrier can trace its ancestry back to the now-extinct black and tan terrier and the whippet. By crossing an impeccable ratting breed with the fast, graceful greyhound, breeders were able to produce a new dog entirely its own that excelled at quickly dispatching small prey.
