Ibizan Hound

The Ibizan hound is a regal breed that commands attention and conjures thoughts of the ancient Egyptian hounds depicted in hieroglyphics, such as the Jackal God, Anubis. Originally from the Balearic Islands off the coast of Spain, the Ibizan Hound can trace its ancestry back some 3,000 years. Their large, pointed ears and long, slender legs made them excellent hunters of hares and other prey while their unwavering loyalty to their owners and reserved attitude towards strangers gave them the makings of an excellent watchdog. They can run at great speeds and can jump to impressive heights from a standstill.
