Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen

Hailing from the Vendéen region of France, the Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen is aptly named for its place of birth as well as its appearance. Roughly translated, Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen means "Large, low, shaggy dog of the Vendéen". Commonly referred to as the GBGV or simply the Grand, these medium-sized dogs were initially bred as multipurpose working and hunting dogs, specializing in hunting large game.
